“The Voice” Handmade Bookmark

This one I made for my son, I love the quote and I would love him to take responsibility for his experience in this life, listening to his intuition before anyone’s opinion, but is complicated to compete with so many distractions and influences…

* Always Artichoke is a cardstock from a collection called Regals, offered in different sizes.

** Pistachio Pudding is a cardstock from a collection called In Colours, offered in different sizes.

Step by step tutorial:

I punched my piece of Always Artichoke cardstock measuring 17.5cm x 5cm, with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.

SAM_4855@

Trimmed my quote to 7,5cm by 3cm, and sponged the edges with Shabby Shutters distress ink.

SAM_4858@

I then moved to the second layer, the piece of Pistacho Pudding cardstock measuring 15.5cm x 4,6cm, and stamped the cup, the steam and the heart from the tea4two stamp set, the teabag from the moretea4us stamp set, and attached the quote.

“It’s better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone.” Handmade Bookmark

Today I bring you another quote by Marilyn Monroe.

Today’s project

049@

Materials & tools used:

A piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 14cm x 5cm

A piece of Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 12.5cm x 4.5cm

Printed quote or sentiment measuring 8.5cm x 3cm

Angled Tag Topper Punch by Stampin’ Up!

Mini flower Punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes pack by Stampin’ Up!

Manuscript Backgrounds stamp set by Artemio, or En Francais background stamp by Stampin’ Up!

Black Soot ink by Tim Holtz

Embossing ink by Stampin’ Up!

Clear embossing powder by Stampin’ Up!

Embossing Buddy by Stampin’ Up!

Heat Gun Tool by Stampin’ Up!

Some sort of glue. I used Liquid Glue and Glue Dots.

Step by step tutorial:

I punched out the first layer, measuring 14cm x 5cm, with the Angled Tag Topper Punch.

032@

For the second layer I stamped the Manuscript Backgrounds stamp, with the embossing ink, and in this case it looks like a water mark, many times is hard to see the stamped image when we use clear embossing ink.

For a better work I suggest you to use an anti static pillow, so the embossing powder only sticks to the ink. We just have to run the pillow on the paper before stamping it.

022@

I then placed an A4 computer sheet under my layer and covered it with the clear embossing powder.

023@

Then I removed the excess of powder from my layer tapping it off on my A4 sheet of paper, so I could return the powder to its jar.

027@

I heat embossed it, tore the top and bottom, and sponged the edges with Black Soot ink.

029@  031@

I also tore the top and bottom of my quote, and sponged the edges.

035@

Assembled all layers with liquid glue.

038@

Punched out six mini flowers, inked the edges, and lifted them with the back of my pricking tool.

040@

Attaching them with mini glue dots on the opposite corners of my quote.

050@

And Voilà! I love it.

049@

*I only use clear mount stamp sets, however Stampin’ Up! also has the same stamp sets in wood mounting version. If you would prefer this option and can’t find it, let me know and I’ll get you the direct link.

** If you are not in the UK and still want to order with me, stampin’ Up! also has a Heat Gun Toll with the EU Plug. Let me know if you need help with this.

“When I tell you I love you” Handmade bookmark

I can see this bookmark as a sweet and thoughtful gift to a romantic partner.  And you don’t have to wait for a commercial date, as Teal Swan says, “Gifts are the language of love.” So, we can speak that language at any moment.

The note inside the envelope is loose, so a little personal message can be added.

Here is my creation for today.

SAM_4887@

Materials & tools used:

A piece of plain red cardstock measuring 21cm x 5cm

A piece of black cardstock measuring 18.5cm x 4.5cm

Printed quote or sentiment measuring 13cm x 3cm

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch by Stampin’ Up!

3/16 inch Corner Punch by Stampin’ Up!

Envelope punch by Woodware

Cupid Heart punch

minis4circles stamp set by The Stamps Of Life

Festive Berries distress ink by Tim Holtz

Black Soot distress ink by Tim Holtz

Some sort of glue. I used  liquid glue.

Step by step tutorial:

For the first layer I started by punching the red cardstock measuring 21cm x 5cm, with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, I just love these punches, I think they bring a really cute look to the bookmarks. I used ‘Real Red’ from the ‘Brights’ collection.

SAM_4867@

For the second layer I rounded the corners of the black cardstock measuring 18.5cm x 4.5cm. I used ‘Basic Black’ from the ‘Neutrals’ collection.

SAM_4872@

I then trimmed my quote to about 13cm x 3cm. I tore the bottom of it, just because I love the look of tore paper, and inked the edges with Festive Berries distress ink.

SAM_4876@

I spent an awful lot of time looking for a mini envelope punch, and these are the moments I wish I was living in the USA… Anyway, here in the UK I managed to buy a punch by Woodware. And can’t even begin to tell you how disappointed I am. I spent a total of £11.90 for this punch, so I expected it to be a good quality one… It didn’t punch through Stampin’ Up! cardstock, I wanted a red envelope to match the first layer. I’ve tried to punch other cardstock that I had around me, it didn’t punch too. So, I used the cardstock I use to print my quotes, which is a 160gsm, and distress it with Festive Berries distress ink.

I wish I had seen this tutorial before buying this punch, and I would have invested my money in a good quality tool.

SAM_4879@

I always have pieces of scrap paper around, and even the pieces that look to small, or narrow end up being useful. I distressed a strip of scrap paper with the same Festive Berries distress ink on one side, and Black Soot distress ink on the other side, and punched out a few Cupid Hearts. I had to pull out my tweezers in order to glue them, or they would instead be glued on my big fingers!

SAM_4870@  SAM_4884@

I slipped a piece of paper measuring 4.6cm x 2.4cm with the word ‘adore’ from the minis4circles stamp set. But you could handwrite anything on it 😉

“Sometimes good things fall apart,…” Handmade Bookmark

Have you noticed the truth this quote carries? Sometimes we see our world falling apart, and after it does, what we realise is that by letting go of things that no longer served us, we cleared the space for new and better experiences.  As human beings we have resistance to change, that’s why sometimes we have to face them in the worst possible way…

Today’s project:

SAM_4556@

Materials & tools used:

A piece of plain lilac cardstock measuring 19cm x 5cm

A piece of yellow cardstock measuring 17,5cm x 4,7cm

Printed quote or sentiment measuring 7,5cm x 3cm

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch by Stampin’ Up!

Mini flower Punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Pack by Stampin’ Up!

Petite Petals Punch by Stampin’ Up!

3/16 inch Corner Punch by Stampin’ Up!

Pearlescent Lavender ink by Dew Drop Brilliance

Some sort of glue. I used liquid glue.

Step by step tutorial:

After punching the piece of lilac cardstock measuring 19cm x 5cm with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I rounded the bottom corners.

SAM_4532@

This time I jumped straight into my printed quote, trimming it down to 7,5cm, and inking the edges with Pearlescent Lavender ink.

SAM_4536@

After the edges were dry, I glued the quote with snail to the second layer, so I could know where to punch. I rounded the four corners, and punched two flowers above the quote and two below, with the Petite Petals Punch.

SAM_4537@

Using some scraps, I punched out eight small flowers, four of each colour, with the small flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes pack.

SAM_4539@

Using the yellow for the centre of the punched flowers on the second layer, and the lilac ones next to them.

“She Believed She Could, So She Did” Handmade Bookmark smaller size

Hi,

I have no idea how I did this, but I managed to used the same quote… I guess I was distracted. Anyway, it’s done. So, let’s just call it a smaller size. It is smaller than my usual bookmarks, which is great for smaller books. Books come in all sizes anyway.

Today’s creation

SAM_4708@

Materials & tools used:

A piece of pink cardstock measuring 15cm x 4cm

Printed quote or sentiment measuring about 7cm x 3cm

Flowers2share stamp set by The Stamps Of Life

Daisies4you stamp set by The Stamps Of Life

Papillon Potpourri stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Bitty Butterfly punch by Stampin’ Up!

Whisper White ink by Stampin’ Up!

Pearlescent Lavender ink by Dew Drop Brilliance

Pearlescent Orchid by Dew Drop Brilliance

White gel pen

Some sort of glue. I used snail adhesive and liquid glue.

Snail refills available here.

Step by step tutorial:

I started by stamping the border from the Flowers2share stamp set, with Pearlescent Lavender ink on the piece of pink cardstock measuring 15cm x 4cm.

SAM_4693@

I then trimmed my quote, inked the edges with Pearlescent Orchid, and attached it to my first layer.

SAM_4696@

Using a strip of scrap paper, I stamped one of the small butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set, with the same Pearlescent Lavender ink. I dried it with my heat gun, and punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.

SAM_4704@

I glued the butterflies, doodling the movements with a white gel pen. Then, I grabbed a tiny flower from the Daisies4you stamp set, stamping it with Whisper White ink. To finish I inked the edges with the Pearlescent Orchid, and I love the result!

“Do the best you can until you know better…” Handmade Bookmark

Pssst

Have you ever felt guilt? Regrets for things you did and you wish you had done differently?

I used to have a big affair with guilt, but I broke up with it now. However, I’m not out of the woods yet… Sometimes, even though my conscience tells me that I’m doing the right thing, people who don’t understand what I am feeling try to plant the seed of guilt in my heart, and because guilt once resided there, I have to battle myself all over again in order to not let guilt grow roots again. Only we know what’s best for us.

Sitting with this quote has helped me immensely. It has helped me understand that at certain given time, and according to certain circumstances I did the best I could because I didn’t know any better… When we forgive ourselves we can then release the guilt. Of course there is more to this, but I’m not getting into it here…

Anyway, I had this post ready on my drafts, and since yesterday I was asking myself if I should publish it today or not… Maya Angelou touched me since the first time I came across with her words, beautiful lady with so much wisdom to share…

Maya Angelou- I would like to be know as an intelligent woman

And you are my beautiful being! You left this world so much richer with the legacy you built and left to all of us.

Today’s project

Materials & tools used:

A piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock measuring 15cm x 5cm

A piece of Perfect Plum cardstock measuring 14.5cm x 4.6cm

Printed quote or sentiment measuring 9.5cm x 3cm

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch by Stampin’ Up!

Round Binding Edge Slim Line Edger Punch by EK Success

Fine Feathers stamp set by Stampin’ UP!

Black Soot distress ink by Tim Holtz

Dusty Concord distress ink by Tim Holtz

Some sort of glue. I used liquid glue.

Step by step tutorial:

Once again I started by punching the piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, measuring 15cm x 5cm, with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch for my first layer.

SAM_4821@

For the second layer I started by inking the edges of the Perfect Plum cardstock, measuring 14.5cm x 4.6cm, with Dusty Concord distress ink,

SAM_4814@

Then I stamped it with one of the feathers from the Fine Feathers stamp set, with Black Soot distress ink. I didn’t bother to stamp in the middle because I knew the quote would cover it.

SAM_4818@

I trimmed my quote and punched the top with the Round Binding Edge Punch, then inked the edges with the same Dusty Concord distress ink

SAM_4804@

This is how it looks like after the layers are assembled.
