Things I Love About You ~ Toilet paper roll book

Hello everyone,

Here is my contribution for the month of love.

I’ve made a flip through video so I wouldn’t have to take a bunch of pictures as it’s been so dark and my lighting settings haven’t got an upgrade.

Know Thyself ~ Toilet paper roll book

Hello,

Have you heard about the #junkuseitorloseit challenge? You can find it here, and here, and here and… just Youtube it!

Anyway, it makes sense that I look at my junk and use it or lose it because I am doing a big cleaning on my clutter. With that in mind, I had far too many toilet paper rolls waiting to be used. So I’ve rolled up my sleeves and Boom! Came up with these books. Three are ready and two more are on the make.

Enough of my nonsense and here are the pictures.

Each book has nine pages, each page has one question. The insert pages were left blank so the person can write on it. If the person wants can write the answer on one side and date it, then six months, one year later can review it and see if the answer is still the same… For fun or for expansion.

That’s all for now.

Denise

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 5]

And finally sheet 5 and insert page.

118@  122@

For this page I started by using the sun from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and the Sunflower Yellow ink.

Page 5 (32)@

Wild Honey distress ink for the tore edges.

Page 5 (33)@

And the butterfly from the same stamp set, stamped with both Pearlescent Purple (for the top) and Seedless Preserves (for shadow), and punched out with Bitty Butterfly Punch.

Page 5 (35)@ Page 5 (1)@

I used the two smaller flowers punched out with the Boho Blossoms Punch, and again the small flower on top (yellow) is from the retired Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I used some pop dots on the butterflies, so the shadow is on show.

Page 5 (43)@

Added the 2mm gems on both butterflies and flowers.

112@

To build this background I used the background4bees, and one of the stamps from the hexagons2love stamp set (both by The Stamps of Life), with Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord distress ink.

Page 5 (51)@ Page 5 (55)@ Page 5 (57)@

I then punched out two hexagons from a sheet of paper from this paper collection, donated to me (among other stuff) by Amy at Crafts By Nutmeg, with the Hexagon Punch, using the same punch to “bite” around the quote.

Page 5 (59)@

The smiley face on the quote is from the faces4stamps (by The Stamps Of Life)

114@

For the reverse I just used some more paper from the collection mentioned above, then stamped on it with some of the stamps from the swirls4words stamp set (by The Stamps Of Life).

Page 5 (62)@

How cute is this?

116@

For the last page I use the sun, the sentence and the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set, plus the feather from the Fine Feathers, for ink I used Pearlescent Thyme, Pearlescent Lavender and Sunflower Yellow.

Page 5 (46)@

Shabby Shutters for some distressing.

Page 5 (64)@

And finally attached the piece of the closure at the back of the page with some more twine, before using liquid glue to attach the page.

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 4]

Sheet 4 and insert page.

106@ 111@

Books stamp by La Blanche and Scattered Straw to build the first layer of this background.

Page 4 (5)@

It Is Written Stamp set by Bo Bunny and Scattered Straw distress ink.

Page 4 (7)@

Aged Mahogany for some distressing and edges.

Page 4 (11)@

Key charm attached with glue dots.

103@

Another built background. And again, I used the It Is Written stamp set with Old Paper distress ink,

Page 4 (22)@

and Tumbled Glass distress ink.

Page 4 (27)@

Antique Linen for some distressing,

Page 4 (30)@

and Frayed Burlap for some contrast.

Page 4 (31)@

Added  the pieces from the Writing Set die cut, that I cut  in the Big Shot, and coloured with Promarkers, adding also 3 2mm gems to the pen.

104@

For the flip side of the insert I used the Tap Tap Tap stamp set, and Tea Dye, Frayed Burlap and Scattered Straw distress ink.

Page 4 (32)@ Page 4 (35)@ Page 4 (37)@ Page 4 (40)@

I then stamped the type machine from the same stamp set. Shame the type machine is not a solid stamp… Oh well, I stamped just the top again on a piece of scrap cardstock to fussy cut, after stamping the word ‘Thanks’ from the Another Thank You stamp set. This is one of the new Photopolymer stamp sets by stampin’ Up!.

Page 4 (42)@

This is what it looks like after assembled.

110@

I Used the Big Shot to emboss the next piece, with Bricks In The Wall embossing folder. The texture of this embossing folder is very rich.

Page 4 (2)@

Distressed with Fired Brick and Black Soot.

Page 4 (18)@

And used the Big Shot again, this time to die cut the key and the keyholes, distressing them with Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo and Black Soot.

Page 4 (13)@ Page 4 (15)@ Page 4 (17)@

Some twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and glue dots to attach them to the page.

Page 4 (20)@

Gems, and to assemble this and all pages I used liquid glue.

097@ 100@

For this page I used one of the stamps from the, retired, Clockworks Stamp Set and Bundled Sage distress ink.

033@

Stamped the corners with Sea Bubbles (by Designs by Ryn) and Forest Moss distress ink.

038@

And used Peeled Paint to stamp the clock also from the Clockworks Stamp Set.

039@ 041@ 044@

Shabby Shutters to distress the corners.

047@

And Evergreen Bough for the quote’s edges and some more Sea Bubbles on the corners.

052@

Page completed.

087@

Washi tape and Vintage Photo distress ink for the insert.

072@

And quote.

093@

Dried Marigold and Scattered Straw distress ink for background.

075@

I Used one of the stamps from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and Walnut Stain distress ink to add a little something to the camper vans die cut.

076@

Insert assembled.

090@

For the other side of the page I used another piece of the Clockworks Stamp Set, and again the Bundled Sage distress ink.

054@

Then I combined one of the stamps from the Stained Textures stamp set with Peeled Paint,

059@

and the other with Forest Moss.

060@

Evergreen Bough to distress around the page.

063@

And the clock to finish.

066@

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 2]

Sheet 2 and insert page.

078@ 081@

I started this layer by distressing it with Tea Dye distress ink.

Page 2 (1)@

Walnut Stain to ink the edges.

Page 2 (7)@

Some Washi tape.

Page 2 (9)@

I then stamped the train, from one of my travelling stamp set, with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Page 2 (11)@

And used the same ink to distress around the page, using it more heavily in some parts.

Page 2 (14)@

Page assembled.

073@

I started here by stamping the music sheet on the opposite corners from the It Is Written stamp Set (By Bo Bunny), with Broken China, but I didn’t like the result for what I had in mind,

Page 2 (29)@

So, I saved this paper for the reverse, and used Pearlescent Sky Blue instead, then used the shooting star trail from the Work of Art stamp set, stamped with also a Sky Blue, this time from Vivid. I haven’t used these Vivid ink pads in years and I think they no longer even exist.

Page 2 (30)@

It was time to distress, and I did it with Tumbled Glass.

Page 2 (32)@

Used the same ink to stamp the same shooting star trail on top of my quote.

Page 2 (34)@

Then used Chipped Sapphire to ink the edges, going heavily on the opposite corners.

Page 2 (35)@

It was time to use the stars mask, that comes in a pack with the hearts mask that I used on the previous page.

Page 2 (38)@

I didn’t do a great job…

Page 2 (40)@

So, I got the gel pen out and tried to fix it.

Page 2 (41)@

And it doesn’t look so bad.

075@

With another stamp from the Work of Art stamp set I stamped randomly on top of the other layers I had stamped before, and on the corners, with the It Is Written stamp Set (By Bo Bunny)

Page 2 (44)@

Some Tumbled Glass to distress,

Page 2 (47)@

and Chipped Sapphire for the edges.

Page 2 (49)@

Still from the Work of Art stamp set, I stamped the sentence three times on the diagonal, plus two times in a faded way on the two other corners.

Page 2 (50)@

Then I used the star mask again to spray some Vanilla Shimmer.

Page 2 (52)@

Shame that the shimmer doesn’t show on the picture… I need a better camera.

082@

For the other side, I started by distressing my cardstock with the same Tea Dye distress ink I used on the other side, and Vintage Photo to transfer the image from that stencil.

Page 2 (18)@

I then used some stamps from the same travelling stamp set I used before, and also the same Vintage Photo distress ink.  For the compass I used Brushed Corduroy. And more Vintage Photo for the edges.

Page 2 (20)@

Page assembled.

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 1]

Sheet 1 and insert page.

068@ 084@

I started this layer by stamping the feather from the Fine Feathers stamp set, with orange ink (by Versa Color).

Page 1 (2)@

That I embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, using the Big Shot.

Page 1 (4)@ Page 1 (5)@

Distressing it with Shabby Shutters.

Page 1 (9)@

For my quote I maintained the Shabby Shutters, and added Mustard Seed distress ink.

Page 1 (11)@

Just because I love feathers, I used one of the feathers from the Feathers die cut set (by Spellbinders), and distressed it with Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade distress ink.

Page 1 (14)@

This is the front of the page after assembled.

065@

For this page insert decoration, I started by using the heart mask and Festive Berries distress ink,

Page 1 (32)@

I then used the same Festive Berries distress ink to distress on top of the hearts, Black Soot for the edges, and punched out the three hearts with the, now retired, small heart punch.

Page 1 (35)@

Some Stickles on top of the hearts and this one was ready.

066@

Reverse of the page.

084@

For this one I distressed the background with Mustard Seed, used some Washi tape on the bottom. The cage, the bird and the flourish are die cuts.

Page 1 (17)@

For the shining look I used the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, I’m in love with this stuff!

Page 1 (22)@

To finish I added the small flowers and 2mm black gems.

069@

For the second insert page, I kept on the theme, but this time reversed the colours, using Black Soot for the hearts.

Page 1 (38)@

And Festive Berries distress ink for the background, that I embossed in the Big Shot with the Crackle embossing folder (by Darice)
