Rainbow Magick ~Dream Journal

Okay, so today I have a another journal to share with you. I love making covers for journals!

SAM_6555@

As I was refilling some stuff in my kitchen, I ended up with a pile of cardboard to throw in the recycle bin, which made me think that I could start the recycling straight from my house.

And indeed I recycled the cardboard from the boxes of cereals, biscuits, coffee and anything that came in a cardboard packaging.

For that I used the Big Shot to cut the images, then I just applied some gesso to make them white, so I can use any colour.

SAM_6474@

I distressed the branch with Brushed Corduroy distress ink first, then I used one of the stamps from the Cracks & Specks stamp set with embossing ink, and brown embossing powder.

SAM_6477@ SAM_6483@ SAM_6484@

I loved the result so much, I did it again but this time I used Black Soot distress ink and black embossing powder.

SAM_6485@ SAM_6487@

Here I used the Brick Wall Decorative Strip Die to make the mask, and the Homemade Smooth Texture Paste recipe (scroll down a bit to find the recipe) by Gabrielle Pollacco.

SAM_6478@

After the Texture Paste was dry, I distressed my main page plus the Arches.

SAM_6510@ SAM_6519@

I then grabbed a Aqua Painter and used it with different colours on the brick wall.

SAM_6522@ SAM_6527@ SAM_6528@

Allowed it to dry and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

SAM_6543@

I also embossed the birds, first with white embossing powder, then with an embossing powder that is a mix of colours, using the same stamp again for some texture.

SAM_6547@ SAM_6549@

Here I first stamped the image with the Lightning Black ink, but for some reason the image wasn’t clear so, as I was ready to start from scratch again I had the impulse to clean the image with a baby wipe… Just out of curiosity… And what happened was that the black ink was removed leaving a white shade of the image. Here I didn’t hesitate and stamped the image again with the Black Archival ink, and I was amazed by the result! If I wanted to have the white shadow on purpose I probably couldn’t get it…

SAM_6531@

For the printed title I tore the top and bottom, and distressed it with Old Paper and Scattered Straw.

SAM_6534@ SAM_6535@

After stamping the other images, I inked the edges with Whisper White ink.

SAM_6537@

I coloured the stars on my title with a white pen, and sprayed the sheet with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. Which was not a very good idea as the combination of the water based product interfere with the distress inks… But, I love the shimmer.

The last thing I did before attaching my elements with liquid glue, was to stamp the background with the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set. It really gives the final touch… I think. Meaning, I love it!

Then I added a layer of black cardstock, and the cover was ready.

Clocks ~ Journal

Another journal for today 🙂

SAM_6468@

For this one I fussy cut the printed title, and inked the edges with Pine Needles distress ink.

SAM_6427@

Then I used the Big Shot to emboss the strip of cardstock, measuring 13 x 3,5 cm, with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (that you still can find in the Clearance Rack).

SAM_6430@

I also embossed my main cardstock, measuring 20 x 13 cm, with a wall embossing folder. This folder gives you a very light texture.

SAM_6434@

I used the Pine Needles distress ink again.

SAM_6437@

And attached the title with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SAM_6442@

I used Shabby Shutters to lightly distress my background.

SAM_6445@

And Bundled Sage to distress the clock dies.

SAM_6448@

Then I pulled out the retired Clockworks Stamp Set,

SAM_6449@

and used Pine Needles again to distress the edges.

SAM_6453@

I used the big stamp from the Sea Bubbles Stamp Set (by Designs by Ryn) combined with Forest Moss distress ink. (Note to self: Next time remember to stamp before embossing… If you know what you are doing beforehand.)

SAM_6454@

And Vintage Photo to ink the edges of the patterned paper, distressing more than edges on the bigger piece.

SAM_6457@

Then I took out the charms and the Burlap Twine,

SAM_6460@

attaching them with glue dots, and distressing the edges of the entire sheet with the Pine Needles distress ink.

SAM_6462@

More Stampin’ Dimensionals, glue dots and liquid glue to hold everything in place, and some gems.

Pretty Mess ~Journal

I did a pretty mess here, and I love it!

SAM_6419@ SAM_6424@

For the title I started by running a piece of white cardstock, measuring 12.5x 5cm, with one of the On the Edge Die – Torn Notebook dies through the Big shot. I distressed that piece with Scattered Straw. I then punched out the letters of my printed title with the 3/4 circle Punch, and used the same ink for the edges.

SAM_6344@

I then pulled out the It Is Written Stamp set and the Tea Dye distress ink.

SAM_6350@

And used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the title.

SAM_6351@

Finishing this part with some Vintage Photo on the edges.

SAM_6414@

Distressing my cardstock measuring 20x13cm with Tumbled Glass,

SAM_6390@

and then using one of the stamps from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and Broken China.

SAM_6392@

Using Faded Jeans I stamped the books, using the corner, corner, side technique.

SAM_6395@

Here I used the Rising Bubbles stamp by Designs by Ryn.

SAM_6397@

And then returned to the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set,

SAM_6401@

to make more mess.

SAM_6403@

It was time to pull the Stained Textures stamp set to leave some… Coffee marks?

SAM_6405@

Still on the same stamp set, I used Whisper White Ink to use again the corner, corner, side technique.

SAM_6407@

To finish I used one Aqua Painter to add some Tumbled Glass to the drops, and added a layer of Night of Navy cardstock using liquid glue.

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 5]

And finally sheet 5 and insert page.

118@  122@

For this page I started by using the sun from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and the Sunflower Yellow ink.

Page 5 (32)@

Wild Honey distress ink for the tore edges.

Page 5 (33)@

And the butterfly from the same stamp set, stamped with both Pearlescent Purple (for the top) and Seedless Preserves (for shadow), and punched out with Bitty Butterfly Punch.

Page 5 (35)@ Page 5 (1)@

I used the two smaller flowers punched out with the Boho Blossoms Punch, and again the small flower on top (yellow) is from the retired Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I used some pop dots on the butterflies, so the shadow is on show.

Page 5 (43)@

Added the 2mm gems on both butterflies and flowers.

112@

To build this background I used the background4bees, and one of the stamps from the hexagons2love stamp set (both by The Stamps of Life), with Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord distress ink.

Page 5 (51)@ Page 5 (55)@ Page 5 (57)@

I then punched out two hexagons from a sheet of paper from this paper collection, donated to me (among other stuff) by Amy at Crafts By Nutmeg, with the Hexagon Punch, using the same punch to “bite” around the quote.

Page 5 (59)@

The smiley face on the quote is from the faces4stamps (by The Stamps Of Life)

114@

For the reverse I just used some more paper from the collection mentioned above, then stamped on it with some of the stamps from the swirls4words stamp set (by The Stamps Of Life).

Page 5 (62)@

How cute is this?

116@

For the last page I use the sun, the sentence and the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set, plus the feather from the Fine Feathers, for ink I used Pearlescent Thyme, Pearlescent Lavender and Sunflower Yellow.

Page 5 (46)@

Shabby Shutters for some distressing.

Page 5 (64)@

And finally attached the piece of the closure at the back of the page with some more twine, before using liquid glue to attach the page.

Page 4 (31)@

Added  the pieces from the Writing Set die cut, that I cut  in the Big Shot, and coloured with Promarkers, adding also 3 2mm gems to the pen.

104@

For the flip side of the insert I used the Tap Tap Tap stamp set, and Tea Dye, Frayed Burlap and Scattered Straw distress ink.

Page 4 (32)@ Page 4 (35)@ Page 4 (37)@ Page 4 (40)@

I then stamped the type machine from the same stamp set. Shame the type machine is not a solid stamp… Oh well, I stamped just the top again on a piece of scrap cardstock to fussy cut, after stamping the word ‘Thanks’ from the Another Thank You stamp set. This is one of the new Photopolymer stamp sets by stampin’ Up!.

Page 4 (42)@

This is what it looks like after assembled.

110@

I Used the Big Shot to emboss the next piece, with Bricks In The Wall embossing folder. The texture of this embossing folder is very rich.

Page 4 (2)@

Distressed with Fired Brick and Black Soot.

Page 4 (18)@

And used the Big Shot again, this time to die cut the key and the keyholes, distressing them with Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo and Black Soot.

Page 4 (13)@ Page 4 (15)@ Page 4 (17)@

Some twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals, and glue dots to attach them to the page.

Page 4 (20)@

Gems, and to assemble this and all pages I used liquid glue.

Toilet Paper Roll Book ~Lessons in Life from Dr. Seuss~ [Sheet 2]

Sheet 2 and insert page.

078@ 081@

I started this layer by distressing it with Tea Dye distress ink.

Page 2 (1)@

Walnut Stain to ink the edges.

Page 2 (7)@

Some Washi tape.

Page 2 (9)@

I then stamped the train, from one of my travelling stamp set, with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Page 2 (11)@

And used the same ink to distress around the page, using it more heavily in some parts.

Page 2 (14)@

Page assembled.

073@

I started here by stamping the music sheet on the opposite corners from the It Is Written stamp Set (By Bo Bunny), with Broken China, but I didn’t like the result for what I had in mind,

Page 2 (29)@

So, I saved this paper for the reverse, and used Pearlescent Sky Blue instead, then used the shooting star trail from the Work of Art stamp set, stamped with also a Sky Blue, this time from Vivid. I haven’t used these Vivid ink pads in years and I think they no longer even exist.

Page 2 (30)@

It was time to distress, and I did it with Tumbled Glass.

Page 2 (32)@

Used the same ink to stamp the same shooting star trail on top of my quote.

Page 2 (34)@

Then used Chipped Sapphire to ink the edges, going heavily on the opposite corners.

Page 2 (35)@

It was time to use the stars mask, that comes in a pack with the hearts mask that I used on the previous page.

Page 2 (38)@

I didn’t do a great job…

Page 2 (40)@

So, I got the gel pen out and tried to fix it.

Page 2 (41)@

And it doesn’t look so bad.

075@

With another stamp from the Work of Art stamp set I stamped randomly on top of the other layers I had stamped before, and on the corners, with the It Is Written stamp Set (By Bo Bunny)

Page 2 (44)@

Some Tumbled Glass to distress,

Page 2 (47)@

and Chipped Sapphire for the edges.

Page 2 (49)@

Still from the Work of Art stamp set, I stamped the sentence three times on the diagonal, plus two times in a faded way on the two other corners.

Page 2 (50)@

Then I used the star mask again to spray some Vanilla Shimmer.

Page 2 (52)@

Shame that the shimmer doesn’t show on the picture… I need a better camera.

082@

For the other side, I started by distressing my cardstock with the same Tea Dye distress ink I used on the other side, and Vintage Photo to transfer the image from that stencil.

Page 2 (18)@

I then used some stamps from the same travelling stamp set I used before, and also the same Vintage Photo distress ink.  For the compass I used Brushed Corduroy. And more Vintage Photo for the edges.

Page 2 (20)@

Page assembled.
